Auckland City Therapy Ltd provides counselling and psychotherapy services to individuals and couples. The practice was established in 2009 by Jon Hay and Amanda Cox.
Prior to establishing the practice Jon and Amanda had both worked in a variety of community agencies in the not-for-profit sector. Their experience in the community agencies exposed them a wide range of specialised health problems such as addictions, sexual health, and terminal illness, as well as more mainstream issues such as depression, anxiety and relationship problems.
Like many psychotherapists, they also had their own small private practices alongside their jobs in the community services : Amanda was based in Mt Eden and Jon in the central city. However, the time they had available to focus on their practices was limited by their commitments to their employers. They both wanted to provide a service that could offer general counselling and psychotherapy to individuals and couples and where treatment could be specifically tailored to suit each individual person’s needs. And so in 2009 they joined forces and setup Auckland City Therapy.
