Counselling
Counselling
is helpful when a situation or experience has become difficult or
overwhelming. A counsellor can help you to explore your thoughts and
feelings in order to make sense of them and regain some clarity and understanding.
Perhaps you feel depressed, or anxious, or angry, and you want to understand your feelings so that you can manage them better. Maybe you have experienced a disturbing event or trauma. Perhaps a certain area of your life leaves you feeling dissatisfied and you want to change it.
A counsellor can help you explore aspects of your life which might seem troubling or unsatisfying. Counselling differs from psychotherapy in that the focus tends more towards a specific situation, rather than yourself as a whole.
We
are all affected differently by the events that life deals us. What
might seem insignificant to one person may feel troubling or
confusing to another. We each perceive the world in our own unique
way and a counsellor will help you to understand your own experience
more clearly.
Counselling sessions usually occur weekly and continue for as long as needed.
