I have been involved in counselling since 2002 following a career in the corporate world. My experience in counselling and psychotherapy has included working as a crisis counsellor for young adults and adolescents, work with addictions, and working in general practice in the not-for-profit sector. I have facilitated groups and worked with individuals, couples, and families. I now work in private practice and divide my time between individual counselling and psychotherapy for men and women, and relationship and marriage counselling for couples.
I have a keen interest in how individual and couple therapy can overlap and the clinical benefits that can be gained from this. I work with people who bring a wide variety of issues and concerns, and I come from the view that increasing our self-knowledge and understanding helps us regain some choice and control in our lives.
I am a registered psychotherapist (PBANZ) and a member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC). I studied at undergraduate level in counselling with a focus on working with couples, families, and work with drug and alcohol addictions. My postgraduate study was in adult psychotherapy.
I work with individual men and women, and with couples.

My interest in health began over 15 years ago when I trained as a Registered Comprehensive Nurse in the Manawatu. Since then I have worked in a variety of different areas of the health world including oncology nursing, in-patient psychiatric care, work with terminal illness, work with sexuality, as well as general practice. My experience has been invaluable and has provided me with a broad understanding of how people relate to themselves and how they relate to others.
I have a Masters of Health Science in Adult Psychotherapy from Auckland University of Technology which involves not only academic success but also an intense and rigorous understanding of ourselves and how we are in relation to others. I think that having been through a similar process to what my clients are going through has allowed me to be more empathic and understanding in the work we do together.
I am interested in how and why we relate to others the way that we do and I am curious about the impact other people have on us and the process of discovering things about ourselves that we weren't initially aware of.
I work with individual men and women.
